Updated the theme to Y2K (check out zonelets_themepack_01_1.zip) I also updated the About page. I'm including the full text here in case I ever change it. My goal with this site is to experiment plenty, and the entire purpose of it could change. Or I could abandon it.

I've been striving to write my posts in HTML without the use of a converter. It's cumbersome, but it's getting quicker since I can understand the basic patterns a little better.

Anyway, here you go:

About

This is an experiment in prospecting a quieter internet. I used Geocities as a child and learned some basic HTML skills. I'm sure I could not currently pick my childhood website out of a lineup, as it was likely a mess of buttons and trackers. After all, this was 90s dial-up internet, and I don't believe I'd even reached double-digits during these experiments in design.

Despite this blog's appearance, this is not an exercise in nostalgia. I've been striving for several years to break away from algorithmic consumption. Daily Eclectoid is a similar experiment in creation. I'm viewing it as a digital perzine, assembled by hand but reliant on the experiments and documentation of others. LLMs are collapsing the internet, but projects like Neocities are the forgotten means of digital living that provide buoys. There is still joy and discovery to be found online if you're willing to put in the effort.

I'd like to say I'll post daily as I learn the ropes around here, but perhaps some failed blogging experiences say otherwise:
